It’s Quiz Time! – Name That Butterfly

Gatekeeper (Pyronia tithonus)

Dear Readers, we’ve had a little break from quizzing, so I thought I’d see what the appetite was for having a go now that summer is here, and hopefully we’re all a bit less stressed. In honour of the Great Butterfly Count, let’s start off nice and easy with some butterfly and day-flying moth identification. Can you match the name to the insect? Answers in the comments by 5 p.m. UK time next Sunday (8th August) please – I will hide any responses as soon as I see them, but if you are easily influenced you might want to write your answers down old-school on a piece of paper first.

Answers will be published on Monday 9th August. No prizes for the winners except for the respect and admiration of your peers 🙂
