The Best Laid Plans..

Well Readers, today I was meant to be in Obergurgl, but our Easyjet flight to Innsbruck was cancelled. Then I managed to fall down the stairs at East Finchley Station and fractuted my leg in 2 places.

Well.it just goes to show that you never know.

I’m writing this on Saturday, and am expecting to be in surgery on Sunday, so by the time you read this I should be on the mend. I’ll keep you posted, but don’t worry if I miss a day now and again! I’m in good spirits and feeling pretty good all things considered.

Gracious – what a way to end your holiday before you have even started it! I lost my balance on the escalator at Waterloo station last year, fell backwards with my large suitcase following after me – emerged at the bottom feeling battered and bruised, no bones broken. I hope you can still salvage something of your holiday even if walking will be out of the question.

My goodness, I hope that your surgery went well and you and your leg are both recovering well.
Sorting out easyJet and your holiday, one way or the other, might be harder.
Good spirits are good, I wish you many more.

I’m not sure what I’m most shocked about… The fact that this accident happened or the level of speed you’ve been taken for the surgery..

All in all, wish you the best recovery! The Universe didn’t want you to go.. Loads of healing sent your way! 🙏🏾

I was so sorry to hear about your accident, “life” does seem to have a nasty habit of getting in the way of the best laid plans. Remember you are entitled to a few moments of self pity a day even as you are planning what you can do with a broken leg rather than dwelling on the restrictions it presents.

You poor soul, I hope your recovery will be smooth and rapid but not so rapid that you don’t get stuck into “that pile of books” that we all have and wonder about when we will ever get round to reading. Now’s the chance. Thanks for your daily thoughts and reports.

I am really sorry to hear that. It must have been a bit of a shock and am glad that you are bearing up. Hope the surgery went well.

Oh no, I’m so sorry that your holiday plans have been wrecked. I hope you can reorganise something when you’re fit again. Meanwhile, plenty of time for reading….

You poor soul – that must have been a truly dreadful experience! Please say you were not on your own! There’s nothing for it but to give in, for a few days at least, which I hope you will not find too constraining. Onwards & upwards can wait a while 😏

Oh no! So sorry to hear this. And what bad timing. Not there’s ever a good time to break your leg, but just before going on holiday must be among the worst. I hope you’re back up and running – or at least walking! – very soon.

I’m so sorry to hear you fell! So scary. I’m glad it was not worse though. I live in fear of a head injury. I hope you’re soon mended and I hope you’re able to reschedule your trip.

This isn’t really your situation, but I know I find a poem a comforting thing, and this is what I could find on short notice that related to falling. I love the image of an “ice cream van of opportunity knocking.”

Is this nature’s way of telling me
Not to run in the corridor of life
Or chase the ice cream van
      Of opportunity knocking
      Or the wild horse
      Of love bolting
But to walk soberly in sensible shoes
      Planting each foot firmly
Before I take the next step?
      Or simply reminding me
That even after all these years
      Of trying
      I still can’t fly

Oh dear! I’ve only just read this… (Been busy with house moving activities… which I’ll blog about sometime…) I hope the surgery has gone according to plan and you’re recovering well. No worries about missing a blog or three, as I’m struggling to keep up as it is! Great shame about Obergurgl. In our old neck of the woods, we’ve been reading about flooding in Sierre and Saas Grund and some of the riverside footpaths between Evolène and Les Haudères have been washed away!

Oh no! I am so sorry to hear this. Bad enough to injure yourself, and then to miss your holiday – oh dear ☹️. Hopefully you’ll be back in Austria soon.
