UK Bank Notes to Feature British Wildlife – Vote for Your Favourites!

Dear Readers, the Bank of EWngland is planning to feature British wildlife on its next banknotes (hopefully this won’t cause the furore that was caused by suggesting that one of the notes should feature a woman last time this happened). I think this is a great idea, personally, even if it might mean replacing Winston Churchill with a fox or a hedgehog. The list of categories is below, and you can pick up to two creatures from each section.

Get a move on though, as you need to have voted by 3rd July. The link for voting is here.

I chose:

Hedgehog and Fox

Eurasian curlew and Atlantic Puffin

Basking Shark and Buff-tailed Bumblebee

My thinking was that all these animals are threatened except for the fox, but I just love foxes so I couldn’t leave them out :-). Who would you choose?

I wanted to vote for Atlantic Salmon, Marsh Fritillary Butterfly and Red Fox, but wasn’t able to as you have to pick one each from three sets. So I substituted Atlantic Puffin for the butterfly. How did you manage to vote for two in each category?

Brilliant choices and thankyou so much for sharing the link . I fear I might have missed the actual vote and I want my grandchildren to do it with me .

You can choose up to two from each category, but yes, they aren’t ranked within that. I guess they’ll add them all up!
