Summer….

Dear Readers, it feels like the tail-end of summer even though July isn’t even finished yet – everything is a bit tatty and dusty, the bird feeders hang (largely) neglected, and the Buddleia has nearly gone over, but not quite, hence the Peacock butterfly above. Today it’s humid and the clouds are low, and as I look out of the window I see the swifts are barrelling past, shrieking – maybe the insects are lower at the moment, or maybe the birds are thinking about their long journey south. There’s a kind of hectic energy in the air that feels very close to exhaustion,  or  maybe it’s just me. Anyhow, I stood on the doorstep and  tried to capture the flight of the swifts, and I suspect that the result is closer to something avant-garde than to a nature film. Anyhow, let’s see what you think 🙂
